Advocating for UX

Advocating UX outward, upward, and across the business.

1. Advocating outward

With the help of my UX team, I hosted a two-day conference open to anyone in the business to learn about how UX benefits their work through hands-on workshops, presentations, videos, and tacos. Give them good locally brewed coffee and tacos, and they will come early!

Doing the math

We had roughly 200 people in attendance over two days. Pretty great for an Enterprise business without a great understanding — at the time — of how UX can benefit their work.

$450,000

150 people x $3000 in fees.

$2,000

We did it for $2k.

2. Advocating Up

After our team created our UXD Process and Style Guides, we took them on the road throughout the company. Publishing them on the intranet and presenting them to executive and senior leadership.

3. Managing Across

For our internal IT team, we hosted a monthly Lunch & Learn series. Each event taught a UX practice that would help the IT department.

The best part? A team member started this as part of their annual performance goals. #WinAsOne
